Charter
The Oakville/Mississauga CAER Association acknowledges need and the right of the public to know the risks associated with the manufacturing, storage, handling and distribution of chemicals within Oakville, Mississauga and surrounding communities. In recognition of this, and in the interest of promoting a positive image of those companies associated to the control of chemicals, the Oakville/Mississauga CAER Association commits itself to:
- Offering membership to all companies involved with the manufacturing, storage, handling or distribution of chemicals within Oakville and Mississauga
- Actively liaising with and offering membership to all Provincial and Municipal emergency response and planning agencies
- Establishing an effective outreach program to community concerns related to the operation of members’ facilities
- The assessment and reduction of risk to life and environment through the education of their employees and the public in general
- Coordinating or organizing an emergency simulation at last once very 5 years and by participating in other organized emergency simulations as opportunities arise
Administration
- This group is a non-profit organization
- The group will meet on a regular basis, the minimum being once quarterly
- The group will elect a chairman, a secretary and a treasurer
- Elections will be held by the membership once every two years
Our commitment as an association to you the member will be:
- To assist each member company to complete internal plant safety and risk assessments
- To assist each member company to develop a community education and community outreach programs
- To assist each member to develop a “Site Emergency Plan”
- To provide networking for the sharing of ideas, knowledge and education
- Report on activities from other CAER groups
Conditions of Membership:
- Be a company, agency or resident interested in manufacturing, storage, handling or distribution of chemicals Oakville, Mississauga and neighbouring communities
- Attend and actively participate in regularly scheduled meetings
- Actively support the activities of the Group
- Develop and maintain an emergency response plans(s) for your company and file them with the appropriate government agency(ies)
- Pay an annual membership fee to the association by March 31st of each year (applicable to industry only)
